Features · BreakOff v1.2
Built for the jumper who already has a logbook — and is tired of filling it in.
BreakOff isn't trying to be a social network or a coach. It does one job properly: capture the jump while it happens, and make the record worth keeping afterwards.
Phase detection that needs nothing from you.
Arm it before you board. From there BreakOff reads barometric altitude and motion to work out where in the jump you are — no buttons, no phone, no glancing at your wrist under canopy.
- Climb, freefall, canopy and landing detected from sustained changes in vertical speed and altitude.
- Thresholds validated on real skydives, not guessed — and deliberately conservative.
- A pre-jump wind brief with ground and altitude layers, before the door opens.
- Runs as a workout session so watchOS keeps it alive in the background for the whole jump.
- Off-landing help that is confirmation-first and only reachable once you're on the ground.
Not a safety device
BreakOff is a jump tracker and logbook companion. It is not a backup altimeter, audible altimeter, emergency device, or life-saving system. Always use your certified altimeter and audible as your primary altitude reference, and follow your training, instructor guidance, DZ procedures and governing-body rules.
A logbook that still works at jump 900.
Most logbook apps are pleasant at 20 jumps and painful at 600. This one is built for the history you already have.
- Month, year and all-years navigation that stays fast as the history grows.
- Search across every year at once without losing correct lifetime jump numbers.
- Bring your existing count — enter it at setup and numbering continues from there.
- Manual entries sit alongside tracked ones, so pre-BreakOff jumps still belong.
- In-person sign-off fields for verification, following familiar logbook workflows.
- Honest data states — missing or partial GPS is labelled as such, never silently faked.
What actually happened up there.
The jump is over in seventy seconds. The useful part is being able to look at it properly afterwards, with numbers instead of impressions.
- Exit and deployment altitude, freefall time and canopy time for every tracked jump.
- Canopy-opening analysis — where the opening started, altitude lost, duration, average rate.
- A confidence rating on that analysis, so a marginal reading is never presented as fact.
- GPS track and altitude profile with the landing pattern, where the data supports it.
- Heart rate context from HealthKit, if you choose to enable it.
- Jump type, group size, aircraft, DZ, notes and linked video or photos.
Post-jump analysis only — never an in-air cue
Gear admin that doesn't drift.
Jumps on the canopy, jumps on this lineset, repack due, AAD service — the numbers that go quietly wrong the moment you stop updating them by hand.
- Canopy, container, reserve and AAD records with the details that matter.
- Counts move with every saved jump, and roll back correctly if you delete one.
- Dated lineset history — replace a lineset and the canopy total is kept while the lineset count resets.
- Edits to old jumps hit the right lineset, the one that was actually fitted on that date.
- Reserve repack and AAD service reminders with warning thresholds before they're due.
- Rental days kept separate from your own rig, so borrowed gear never pollutes your counts.
Where you actually are in the sport.
Not a leaderboard. Just an honest picture of your own flying over time — the thing a paper logbook can never show you.
- Lifetime totals and freefall hours, plus how many of those BreakOff recorded itself.
- Currency at a glance — this month, last month, and the six-month activity shape.
- Freefall time and exit altitude per jump, charted across all time, this year or 90 days.
- Average and highest exit, and a reserve-ride count you hopefully never need.
It's your logbook. You should be able to leave with it.
A logbook you can't get data out of isn't a logbook, it's a hostage situation. BreakOff has no server — your jumps live on your devices and in your own iCloud.
Export properly
PDF for readable records, CSV for spreadsheets. Choose selected jumps, a month, a year, or the entire logbook — with correct lifetime numbering in every scope.
Two independent backups
iCloud/CloudKit sync plus separate local and iCloud Drive snapshots, so a reinstall can recover your history even if sync hasn't caught up.
No backend, by design
There's no BreakOff server to receive your jumps. Analytics measures installs and subscriptions only — logbook, GPS and Health data are excluded entirely.
